Executive Board
Potsdam-based historian Maria Schultz has since 1 June 2021 been in charge of the Lindenstrasse Memorial Foundation (Stiftung Gedenkstätte Lindenstraße). Maria Schultz was appointed by the Foundation Council on the recommendation of an experts commission specially constituted to find a new director.
Having studied history and cultural sciences, Maria Schultz served from 2009 to 2019 as a research assistant, curator and educational consultant for the Leistikowstrasse Memorial in Potsdam, where she also acted as interim director for one year. In September of 2019, Maria Schultz took on the directorship of the permanent exhibition project at the Potsdam Garrison Church Foundation (Stiftung Garnisonkirche Potsdam). She has published articles in various journals and volumes on the Soviet detention center in Leistikowstrasse, on biographies, and on the culture of remembrance. She was also co-editor of a very well-received book on the inscriptions left behind by inmates at the Leistikowstrasse prison.
Maria Schultz is a member of various professional associations and in her free time is active in a number of clubs and organizations. In the summer of 2019, she volunteered her time and expertise to curate the exhibition held at the Alexander Haus in Gross Glienicke. She lives with her family in Potsdam.
